è (饿)

Language: Mandarin Chinese (PTH)

Simplex verb

Verb meaning: BE HUNGRY [be-hungry]

Comment: è can be used both as an adjective and an intransitive verb, which is different from its English equivalent hungry. It can also enter a causative construction taking an object meaning literally 'to make sb hungry', i.e. 'to starve sb.'. That means it can function not only as an intransitive verb, but also a transitive verb. And this VO structure in turn can take a complement. This makes it possible that è can enter constructions like the Ambitransitive construction.
