pǎo (跑)

show comment

pǎo is used as an intransitive verb in practically the same way as run. Sometimes a pre-verbal or post-verbal PP is used to indicate directional or locative information. Just like tiào 'jump', pǎo is also very productive in forming VO structures with various types of V-O relationshiops, as a relic of archiac Chinese.
