pèngjiàn (碰见)

show comment

pèngjiàn is used as a transitive verb in practically the same way as English meet. It literally means 'meet-see', indicating a necessary result of meeting. For that reason, it can enter BEI alternation. Usually a pre-verbal PP is used to indicate where the meeting happens or with whom one meets.
