bāngzhù (帮助)

show comment

bāngzhù is used as a transitive verb, just like help, but in some dialects, it can be used in ditransitive construction denoting transfer, when it is understood through association because helping actions usually involve giving things to people in need. It seems many dialect speakers of Mandarin find the expression acceptable, but such a ditransitive use of bāngzhù is restricted among strict Putonghua speakers.
